Mattress Care

Can you flip a hybrid mattress?

No. Most hybrid mattresses are one-sided by design and should not be flipped. The comfort layers, foam, pillow top, or euro top, sit on top of the coil unit intentionally, and sleeping on the underside means lying on the support core with no cushioning.

Hybrid mattresses are engineered with a deliberate layer order: a firm coil base handles support, while progressively softer materials above it handle pressure relief. Flipping a hybrid mattress puts that hard coil base on top, which defeats the comfort system entirely and can accelerate wear on the underside cover, which isn't built to handle body weight or heat night after night.

  • Most hybrid mattresses are one-sided; the bottom cover is not rated for sleeping contact.
  • Rotating a hybrid mattress 180 degrees head-to-foot every 3–6 months is the correct maintenance alternative to flipping.
  • A small number of hybrid models are explicitly labeled double-sided; check the manufacturer's care guide before assuming.
  • Flipping a one-sided hybrid can void the warranty on many Amazon-listed brands.
